My family and I have been part of the Beavercreek community for a long time, and I am deeply invested in our shared future. As a member of your City Council, I will focus on strengthening our city services and bringing positive, balanced growth that benefits all of Beavercreek's neighborhoods and businesses.

I am Zach Upton and I am a candidate for Beavercreek City Council.
I am asking for your vote for the opportunity to return to the City Council. Although I am not an incumbent, I did have the honor of serving two terms previously from 2012-2019. Beavercreek is my home and has been for a long time. Currently, my wife Heather, and our two little girls live in the Parkwood neighborhood with our oldest daughter attending Parkwood. We are committed to Beavercreek and I hope to serve on City Council to ensure Beavercreek continues to be the wonderful community that Heather and I grew up in for our children.
My background is one rooted in our community. I graduated from Beavercreek High School, and received a Bachelors degree from Regent University in Politics and History. Before serving 8 years on Council, I was a member of the Parks, Recreation and Culture advisory board from 2006-2008, I was chairman of the Boad of Zoning appeals from 2009-2011. More recently, in 2024 I served as chair of the City’s Charter Review commission. I am currently a board member of our neighborhood pool, Cardinal Hill Recreation Club and President of the Holland American Club of Dayton, an organization my great grandfather founded. If you have ever been to the A’World A’fair festival hosted at the Greene County Fairgrounds, we are the Netherlands group serving those delicious Appleflappen , Heinekens and wearing dutch wooden shoes!
In my previous tenure on Council, we worked through a lot of tough issues. I spearheaded the initiative for a direct-elect Mayor. Something I felt was strongly needed to position Beavercreek better in the greater Community. Two times worked for a reduction in property taxes, being successful once. I represented the City on the Greene County Family and Children First Council and as a member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission where I worked with our city staff to secure grant funding. While on Council, our city was recognized by the Ohio State Auditors office and independent auditors time and time again for the fiscal policies and good practices we had in place. Staff did an amazing job keeping accurate and transparent records of the city finances and working within the well-defined budget that Council set each year.
Professionally and full time I work for Synchrony where I am an Assistant Vice President, Relationship Manager. I talk daily with many small to medium business owners from all over and hear about the challenges that business owners are up against . Anything from tariffs, to rising cost of goods and understaffing issues make the jobs and lives harder for small businesses across the country. As a City Council member, I may not be able to impact tariffs, but what we can do is make Beavercreek the most desirable community, so that consumers will want to shop at our businesses and people will want to work in the offices and stores throughout the City.
My past experience will allow me, on day one, to step in and begin working for Beavercreek with little learning curve. Having built partnerships with our representatives in Columbus, and Washington, while also working with our government agencies such as the County, Township, School District and through the Miami Regional Planning Commission, I can effectively work toward collaboration and helping seek grants, while maintaining sound fiscal policies.
I hope you will grant me the opportunity to serve our community once again. I ask that you use one of your three votes for Council for me, Zach Upton.
